Paul Appel
Sr VP of Business Development

Paul Appel is Sr. VP of Business Development for MedDEV, Inc.  Previously, Mr. Appel was a successful business executive in the energy Industry.  He graduated with an engineering degree from Montana Tech in 1975, and then joined ConocoPhillips, where he held a variety of positions over a 28-year career.  Following early retirement from Conoco, Mr. Appel has worked as a business development and project management consultant, and then more recently as VP of Operations for an independent oil and gas producer.

During his 35 year working history, Mr. Appel has held a variety of engineering, business development and senior management positions.  As such, he is well versed in business development, contracts, planning & budgeting, project development, and asset management.  He has a proven track record as a successful “team” builder and people motivator.  He is a bottom-line, financially focused leader and manager.

Mr. Appel has held business development positions responsible for both U.S. and international growth opportunities.  His business development portfolio includes successful entrance into new project opportunities in the United States, Canada, Venezuela, Europe, the Middle East, China, Japan, and Korea.  He has also managed, with full cost and profit accountability, multi-billion dollar assets/business lines in California, West Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, the Rocky Mountains, as well as in Canada, Venezuela and Norway.

Mr. Appel has worked most recently for a small start-up energy company in Texas, managing business development and operations with focus on a cost conscious growth strategy.  This company, Pyramid GOM, Inc., now owns and operates assets valued at more than $50 million.

With MedDEV, Mr. Appel’s responsibilities include both business development and business management for this start-up bio-medical company.  He is also a member of the MedDEV Board of Directors.

He currently resides in Texas with his wife, Sandra.  They have two grown children. Complete resume
